Provides services for people over a wide area from Dumbarton to Oban. Opened in 1955, the hospital provides maternity care, care for
the elderly building in the 1970s and a new theatre suite was added in the last decade.
In 1999, the hospital increased the size of its day surgery unit by 50% and a substantial investment was made in laparoscopic
surgical services in 2000.
Recent press reports suggested that the trust was planning to close the hospital, but this is not the case, and an ongoing programme of investment does appear to be strong evidence of the
trust's true intentions. The Vale Project's review of services continued to progress over the last year, with substantial capital investment anticipated over the next few years.

The original Victoria Infirmary opened more than 100 years ago and has been converted in recent years to provide modern day care for the residents of Helensburgh and the Lochside.
The site comprises of The Victoria Infirmary Building, The Jeanie Deans Unit, Community Base and Out-Patient Department.
The Victoria Infirmary itself now provides a base for outreach Mental Health Services including Consultants/CPNs and Clinical Psychology. In addition, there are OutPatient facilities for Chiropody.
The former nurses home building has been converted as a base for Community Staff working within the area including Nurse, Community Paediatric and Administrative staff
The Jeanie Deans Unit was built in 1989 and opened as a 30 bed Care of the Elderly Unit. Within the last two years work has been completed to provide 6 GP beds within the building which transferred from the Victoria building. Care of the Elderly Services within Helensburgh form part of the Primary Care Trust although Consultant cover is maintained from the Acute Trust through Dr Niall Manning.
The 6 GP beds are located in a discreet area of the building and are at the disposal of the two practices located within Helensburgh and are used for a variety of purposes.
The Out-Patient Department provides facilities for a number of visiting Consultants together with X-Ray/Physiotherapy and Dental Departments. The building is contained within the Primary Care Trust but the Clinical Services are in the main, the responsibility of the Argyll & Clyde Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
The two GP Practices within Helensburgh are located within purpose built premises close to the Victoria Infirmary and a minor Casualty Service is provided from the treatment room there
